There are several homeless and poverty-stricken students that the English Language Social Worker, English Language Counselor, English Language Teacher, and College and Career Resource Center Counselor at York Community High School in Elmhurst, IL work closely with. Having a continuing education scholarship would allow a student in need to have money for college classes or trade school as well as books, regardless of their documentation status. Additionally, as Rotary International focuses on service, this scholarship will also reward a student who is dedicated to community and service in addition to their financial need. Club members will work with the York High School staff, titles listed above, to identify one student who would benefit from this $500 scholarship. The timeline of this project will be a recipient decided by April 1, 2023, and rewarded the night of April 18, 2023, at 7 PM, during the York High School scholarship award night. The scholarship will go directly to the student to avoid lowering the cost of aid their respective school provides them.
