The Juneau Glacier Valley Rotary club has identified several needs at the Riverside Rotary Park in Juneau. Specifically, a large corner of the park needs to have brush and small trees cut and removed, a portion of the bank at the edge of the large duck pond is being eroded, becoming quite slippery due to the feeding of the ducks that takes place in this area, the playground equipment is wood that is very weathered and in need of cleaning and staining, and the ground covering sand (that is used for fall protection) at the base of the play equipment is almost all gone.
Our Rotarians will cut the brush and haul away the limbs and small trees. Rotarians will also do all of the cleaning and staining of the playground equipment and the placement of the sand at the base of the equipment. Lastly our Rotarians will build an ADA Accessible path to the edge of the water where we will place a concrete bulwark and concrete standing area for the kids and adults to use while feeding the ducks.
We will obtain the permits to do this project this winter and proceed with the project in April of 2014 with completion by June 1st, 2014.
