Project Description

Country: USA

Location: Wasilla, AK

Total Budget: $12,222

Area of Focus: Community economic development

Activity Type: Community Development: Construction/Renovation

Summary: Repaint, replace floor boards, and build an access ramp to a retired rail flat car to be used as an outdoor stage at he community event center.

Several years ago the city placed a retired rail flat cat at he community center with the goal to turn the flat car into an outdoor stage. The City has been unable to prioritize the project and the flat car has fallen into further disrepair and is in danger of being removed and discarded. There is currently no outdoor stage available at the community center.

This project will tune the flat car into a useable stage and be branded as the Rotary Railroad stage.

The project will be completed during the summer of 2023 - specific timing depends on the weather as this project will take 3 weekends to complete.

The project will be completed by Wasilla Noon Club members assisted by a painting contractor and a welding professional. Tasks are available for all skill levels.

Funds will be used to purchase lumber and supplies to complete the project and to pay the painting and welding contractors.
