Born in Chau Doc, Vietnam, Rotary member Linda Dunegan is intimately familiar with the needs of the poor in developing countries. She has worked her entire life to overcome the challenges of her upbringing and recognizes missing keys essential to success that her organization, The Children's Benefit Foundation, can implement by coming alongside many existing programs to fill in the gaps and provide the practical, emotional, intellectual and spiritual insights that are essential to whole person wellness and success, turning lost souls into powerful citizens. This Community Assessment is for medical only.
During a previous trip to Viet Nam in 2010, she established a close relationship with Dr. Dong, and later Dr. Trung, the lead researcher for infectious disease in Viet Nam and also co-founder of the Rotary Club of Ha Noi. On this initial Community Needs Assessment project, Linda and her team with travel with doctors, visit with clinics, and villages, and has even arranged to meet with the Minister of Health in Vietnam in order to determine that scope of a future Global Grant application to establish a sustainable presence in the country, which will focus on medical, educational, and vocational training enhancement.
The team will consist of Rotary members Linda Dunegan and Mike Gailey, from Anchorage International Rotary Club, and Dr. Dong of Hanoi, and Ms. Nguyen also of Hanoi for administrative support. We have met with and secured the cooperation of the Rotary Club of Ha Noi to assist both with this initial needs assessment as necessary, and our future Global Grant endeavor.
