Morrill is a small farming community located in Western Nebraska. Our current Library was built by the WPA in 1936. In that same year the Morrill Rotary Club was chartered. We have always had a close relationship with the Library. We had our meetings there into the 1990's until building codes required us to close the kitchen. Our Library in an integral part of this community, providing not only books for young and old, but also audio and visual selections, computer and internet access, summer reading programs and much more. Past Rotary projects have replaced old windows with new, provided audio/visual equipment and provided labor for painting projects. Our latest project provided a small library kiosk in the park.
This project will replace flooring in the downstairs area of the Library. We will replace worn and torn carpet in the reading room and replace tile and stair treads (most likely containing asbestos) with new. This will be a hands on project as much as possible. We will remove the old flooring and stair tread and help the installers wherever possible. The project will proceed upon grant approval and funding. The club's funding is in place.
NOTE: The President, President-elect and the Grants Committee Chair (myself) have all watched and discussed the Grants Training video. I will provide pictures and estimate of work to be done in a later email
