Rotary EClub of San Diego Global wants to continue paying the tuition of five college students, half-way through their degree programs. $4000 is needed for the next school year beginning June 2023. They have all excelled their first two yeats of college in spite of Covid 19 infections, family food insecurity, economic chaos and domestic violence.
These students are the first in their respective families to finish high school and attend college. The funds will go to admission fees and tuition for the next school year. Other contributions to their education, including internet access, transportation, English classes and books, will be supplied by a group of women who are members and friends of RECGSD.
Three students are attending the Universidad Rafael Landivar in Antigua, studying business administration, . Two are attending the Universidad Mariano Galvez de Guatemala in Guatemala City, studying engineering.
Guatemala is slowly getting their economy back to normal after the pandemic 0f 2020-22. These students had a thriving tourism business before the pandemic. They will, no doubt, bounce back with the advantage of a college education, creating a positive future for themselves, their families and their community. They will help build Guatemala's middle class by being the future leaders in business, engineering and free democracy.
