Project Description

Country: USA

Location: WTV Rotary

Total Budget: $2,761

Area of Focus: Basic education and literacy

Activity Type: Education: Literacy

Summary: Approximately 800 Dictionaries to 3rd Graders in the Western Treasure Valley, USA

According to Dictionary Project Educators third grade is seen as the dividing line

between learning to read and reading to learn. WTV Rotary wants to give third graders

dictionaries, an essential tool to assist students in receiving a quality education.

We anticipate we will be working with approximately 12 schools in the WTV representing 26 classrooms and approximately 800 third grade students. The project funds will pay for the dictionaries and the Rotary 4 Way Test bookplates posted on the first page of each dictionary.

For the 2023-2024 school year the Club will once again work with school administration

to determine the best delivery method for each individual school. In addition to the" A Students Dictionary" we will also be distributing the "Webster'sSpanish/English Dictionary" for Hispanic Students.

You have applied for a tier 3 grant project(total financing > $2762). A detailed spending plan is required for all tier 3 grants. Since your club is limited to a maximum of $1,381 of DDF, you could avoid the spending plan by lowering your total to $2,762. In the end you can always spend more club money. Lowering the financing will also make your reporting easier. It's up to you whether to change the financing or provide the spending plan. Deadline for signed applications is June 1st.

Reduce your total financing to $2,762 or less or else provide a detailed spending plan for your project. Call me if you have questions, 208 308-5617. After this, "start club signature process" on the administration side of the description tab. Signed applications are due no later than June 1st.

Your 2023-24 district grant project will be included in D5400's block grant application to The Rotary Foundation in July. Do not place orders or spend money on the project until you hear from the district that TRF has approved our block grant, as you cannot be reimbursed for expenses incurred prior to TRF approval. Call me at 208 308-5617 if you have any questions. Thank you!

Please do not reply to this email. You should have received your grant by now, mailed to your club’s mailing address Aug. 11. We are using a bill payer service this year, and the envelope will look different than in the past. Please tell your treasurer to watch for it, and not to discard. Please call me if you don’t have your check (208) 308-5617. Ignore the physical address on the check – D5400 is still PO Box 9592, Boise, ID 83707.
