Summary: Community grants to be given to not for profit organizations with a specific project need

Every year our Rotary club receives applications from not-for-profit organizations for community grants in Oak Park, and surrounding communities. These grants are awarded by a committee of Rotarians. The money is to be used for specific projects by the organizations, such as washers and dryers for people in temporary housing in times of crises, food, equipment for a senior citizen's center, educational opportunities regarding legal rights, and numerous other amazing and worthwhile projects. We currently award $25,000 and would like to use our district money to be able to award more money to the wonderful organizations in our area. We look for projects that fit into the Rotary areas of focus.

Addendum to Project Description (added after the project was signed)

The Club issued 6 Student "Service Above Self" Scholarships to high school seniors. The scholarships were issued through an account the Club has with the OPRF Community Foundation. The Club set up a 8 member committee d to review & rate the applications, attended on stage the awarding of the scholarships at the OPRF High School, and the awarded students discussed their volunteer work at a Club meeting. The beneficiaries are the student's college education and the individuals who benefited from their volunteer work

The Club participates quarterly in the serving a dinner for domestic abuse families at Sarah's Inn. The Club organizes the purchase, delivery, serving, and cleanup of the dinner. Eight Club members volunteer for each of the quarterly dinners. The beneficiaries are the domestically abused families who rely on Sarah's Inn for help.
