Star Farm's Stockyard Gardens is an inclusive, safe space that is widely accessible to the public. Located at 52nd St. and Carpenter St. in Chicago's Back of the Yards neighborhood, this urban green space features raised beds utilized for growing organic produce for underserved communities. Additional plans for this space include a nature trail, pollinator garden, and art installations. Once completed, the Stockyard Gardens will be a central site for community green space access and regular community programming that will increase community connections, reduce community violence, and introduce people of all ages to sustainable practices and nature education. The collaboration between Rotary and Star Farm will assist Star Farm with breaking ground on the Nature Trail by allocating funds for organic compost and also assisting with the manual labor of distributing compost throughout the designated area.
