We provide $1,000 scholarships to two or three High School Graduates going on to College. Receipients are identified through an application several pages long, asking their educational success, their involvement in extra-curricular activities, and thier experience with direct service to the school and community. Rotary memebers include our High School Principle, who publicizes the application to students who may have need.
Three members of the club read every application and score each one on a grid.
Some recipients have been active in the Interact Club at our High School, or may be related to a Rotary member, but we are careful to include at least one student who has not been involved with Rotary, in order to be open to all who have need.
Recepients come to our club meeting to tell us of their plans for the future. The scholarships are awarded, $500 at a time, as students progress in their first year of College or University.
