The students/young adults who attend the Lincoln Way Special Recreation Association (LWSRA), are from a marginalized and often overlooked demographic population who don't always receive Christmas gifts and celebrations. Our club will partner with the LWSRA staff to do a needs assessment of what gifts the attendees would like and provide them those gifts. There is also a Christmas dinner that is provided along with games, crafts, and music. Our Rotarians volunteer for this event to assist with the crafts and games as well as serving food. We will use the funds from the grant to help purchase the gifts that are requested. There are approximately 150 students who participate in the program and they will be the direct receipients of the gifts. Each of our members will receive the name of one or two students to shop for and purchase items from their gift list. Our club provides some funds, our members also add their own personal funds to this effort. Receiving the additional grant funding will allow us to purchase more gifts and impact more students.
