Project Description

Country: USA

Location: Phoenix, Arizona

Total Budget: $5,000

Area of Focus: Maternal and child health

Activity Type: Community Development: General

Summary: Provide 150 Cuddle Bags to Foster and At-Risk Youth as they transition thru the foster care system.

Cuddle Bags are provided, by OCJ Kids, to DCS field offices to give to the at-risk children as they are being removed from neglectful or abusive situations. When a child is being removed from these situations, there is chaos and trauma involved in the removal.

OCJ Kids provides a Cuddle Bag, thru the case workers, to ease the trauma of the transition into foster care.

A Cuddle Bag contains overnight hygiene supplies, snacks, coloring books and crayons, and a toy. Most of all, the Cuddle Bags contain a blanket and a teddy bear. This gives the child something to hold and occupy themselves with during the removal process.

Then timeline for this project is for Sept. 2023

Rotarians of the Rotary Club of Scottsdale North will participate in the project by initiating contact with the grant recipient, organizing the grant process, and assisting OCJ Kids with assemblage of the Cuddle Bags. RCSN Rotarians will also meet with some of the Cuddle Bag recipient and their care givers.

Congratulations! This project has been approved for full funding. We need to do some administrative things, so we don’t know exactly when the money will hit your account, but our best guess is a month or so. We’ll send you an update when we have one. Please also remember that you may not spend money prior to TRF approval and reimburse yourself from grant funds. If there have been changes in your bank account (information for electronic transfer), please get that to Lucinda General (District Treasurer) as soon as possible. treasurer@rotary5495.org. Your report is due April 30, 2024, and receipts are required to complete the report (not invoices, cancelled checks, UPS shipping labels, or any other documents). Thank you for making the world a better place.
