Project Description

Country: USA

Location: Eagle-Garden City

Total Budget: $2,766

Area of Focus: Basic education and literacy

Activity Type: Education: Literacy

Summary: Dictionaries provided to third graders in nine schools in the Eagle and Garden City area around Boise, Idaho

The Rotary Club of Eagle/Garden City, at the beginning of the school year, will order special dictionaries from The Dictionary Project that also include facts about the world and the United States. Rotarians from our club will deliver them to the students in classrooms of third graders for free to nine different elementary schools. Each dictionary will have a label inside allowing the third grader to identify the book as their personnel book. It is an important step to support education and literacy of young people in our community.

Area Schools who benefit:

Eagle Hills Elementary, Eagle Elementary, Galileo Math & Science. Seven Oaks Elementary, Rolling Hills Charter, Pierce Park Elementary, Shadow Hills Elementary, Star Elementary, River Valley Elementary.

Your 2023-24 district grant project will be included in D5400's block grant application to The Rotary Foundation in July. Please do not reply to this email. You should have received your grant by now, mailed to your club’s mailing address Aug. 11. We are using a bill payer service this year, and the envelope will look different than in the past. Please tell your treasurer to watch for it, and not to discard. Please call me if you don’t have your check (208) 308-5617. Ignore the physical address on the check – D5400 is still PO Box 9592, Boise, ID 83707.

The committee has reviewed your documents and find them all complete and correct. Thank you for being so prompt. Getting Dictionaries in the hands of children is always good. This grant will now be considered closed.
