Project Description Country: USA Location: Channahon IL Total Budget: $900 Area of Focus: Basic education and literacy Activity Type: Education: General Summary: Channahon School District 17, Channahon, IL USA Backpacks The Rotary Club of Channahon-Minooka has a long standing and strong partnership with Channahon School District 17, a K-12 public school district that serves approximately 1,500 students. We are seeking to assist students at District schools by providing backpacks containing basic school supplies to students whose families cannot afford the purchase due to financial difficulties. The school will identify the students in need based on financial need guidelines; the students and families will be anonymous to the Club. The backpacks will be used by students to efficiently and securely carry school needs, including books and computers, during the school day and to and from home. Club Members will not be directly involved to maintain student confidentially, but will receive a presentation at a Club meeting from School Officials on the numbers of students serves and the success of the project.
