Project Description Country: USA Location: 60538 Total Budget: $1,000 Area of Focus: Community economic development Activity Type: Food/Agriculture: General Summary: Free Little Food Pantry in City Hall In 2022 the Rotary Club of Montgomery started a Free Little Pantry in City Hall. While other non profits provide this service in the community, many times recipients have to pre qualify or attend a distribution event at a certain day or time. Many either are not available or reluctant to be seen collecting assistance. The Pantry is available when City Hall is open M-F 8:00am-4:30pm and anyone can come and get food. The Pantry has also created a sense of Community within Montgomery with several Elementary Schools and the City collecting thousands of items for donation. Funds from the Grant will be used to purchase Supplies for the Pantry. While many organizations like the local schools and City have donated and the Club initially made a large purchase, the need is great and some weeks there is a gap in how much is put on the shelves.
