Project Description Country: USA Location: Whittier, CA Total Budget: $3,000 Area of Focus: Basic education and literacy Activity Type: Education: General Summary: Transportation from schools for 4th & 5th graders to the special concert by the Whittier Regional Sysmphon. This concert introduces children to classical music and symphony instruments supplementing music education in the schools which is otherwise inadequately supported. The concert will be held in January 2024 with students transported from area elementary schools to the auditorium of the Whittier High School which is also the site of four free concerts each year for the general public. Over 2,000 students will attend. Our total contribution of $3,000 will pay for a major part of the bus costs. The Whittier Regional Symphony (https://www.whittierregionalsymphony.org/index.html) manages the effort and underwrites the costs of the concert. Our members will be present on concert day(s) to assist. We also manage handicapped parking and assistance to those arriving from several area senior residences during the regular concerts of the Symphony.
