Project Description Country: USA Location: Grand Island, NE Total Budget: $6,200 Area of Focus: None Activity Type: Health: General Summary: Purchase portable x-ray for school based dentistry program. Heartland Health Center is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) that serves all individuals no matter their payer source, offering a Sliding Fee Scale for those that are uninsured to be able to offer them reasonable health care. As a FCHC in central Nebraska they offer medical, dental, behavioral health and outreach services to those they serve at the clinic. They are currently in the process of adding an additional dentist, offering a school based program in twelve (12) of the schools in the Grand Island Public Schools District, as well as building an Emergency Dentist rotation to assist with all the limited (emergent) requests they receive daily. With these expansions they are in need of an additional NOMAD, which is a portable x-ray. Grand Island Rotary is excited to partner with the Heartland Health Center to purchase this portable x-ray machine. This will have a positive impact on children's health in Grand Island.
