Project Description Country: USA Location: Boise Metro area Total Budget: $990 Area of Focus: Basic education and literacy Activity Type: Education: Literacy Summary: Diictionaries to elementary schools in the Boise Metro area of Idaho, USA. Students in low income districts often have to share materials while in class and frequently are from families where English is not spoken in the home. This project will directed at serving approximately 450 third grade students and their teachers at five elementary schools in the Boise Metro area that have a high population of low-income students. The dictionaries to be purchased with these funds will be integrated into the curriculum and club members will make personal presentations to the students when the books are delivered. Rotary values will be discussed along with the importance of education for the students' future success. Dictionaries will be distributed in November and December during school hours at times agreed to by the teachers.
