Project Description Country: Kenya Location: El Doret, Kenya Total Budget: $2,060 Area of Focus: Maternal and child health Activity Type: Health: General Summary: Diagnostic Ultrasound for Birthing Center in El Dorado, Kenya The El Doret city located in Kenya, Africa has many medical needs. Pregnant mothers frequently do not receive medical care or have an ultrasound exam during the entire pregnancy. Therefore, health issues related to the mom or the baby might go undetected leading to a more serious medical condition. A non-profit organization associated to two members of our club have opened a clinic in the El Dorado area and have only one ultrasound equipment available. Due to the needs, the Highland Village Rotary Club has already been involved in fundraisers for the next medical mission trip in August 2023. The Club would like to provide an ultrasound equipment with its supplies to the community. There has been engagement of the club with this project in Kenya and members are expected to further provide support for these mothers outside of this grant. The timeline would be to purchase the equipment after funds are disbursed in October 2023 and will be taken to Kenya in the beginning of 2024.
