Summary: Providing an orchard and vegetable garden for Copper Hill Group Home
|
Our club has a history of supporting the Copper Hill Group Home in Vista for Mentally Ill Adults. Our member Ashley is the volunteer administrator there. The property has a 50' x 50' piece of land that would be great for growing food -- they just lack the funds to develop it. The funds from this grant will be used to rent a tiller to prepare the ground, to purchase irrigation lines, 2 truckloads of mushroom compost soil, ground cover cloth, as well as organic fruit trees and vegetable seedlings. Once completed, the residents will be shown how to care for the orchard and the vegetable garden and how and when to pick the fruit and harvest the vegetables for them to eat. The residents are very much looking forward to having their very own orchard and vegetable garden!
