Project Description Country: USA Location: Escondido Total Budget: $1,300 Area of Focus: Maternal and child health Activity Type: Health: General Summary: Enhancing child abuse prevention services to parents and extended family members Our club has recently begun supporting a new nonprofit called "Escokidos" which was founded by our new member Tatiana Rosenborg, a retired Social Worker. This organization focuses on supporting newly-arrived Spanish-speaking families who are not familiar with the American school system and laws/regulations regarding parental responsibilities. They promote mental health and well-being/advocacy in the schools on behalf of the children. They plan to use the funds to purchase the curriculum "9 Essential Skills for the Love & Logic Classroom" ($930.) so they can offer 1:1 parental interventions and later offer court-mandated courses for parents. They plan to use the remainder to print and purchase bilingual educational pamphlets and materials and educational toys (because the families don't have money to buy any 'extras'(they are in survival mode). Other club members will be involved as volunteers.
