The Center for a healthy lifestyle's mission is to encourage children and adults to make good decisions for their own health and the well-being of the planet.
Their farm-to-table culinary curriculum is designed by graduates of Alice Water's Edible Academy in Berkley, CA. Students learn practical skills and receive vocational training as they grow and prepare healthy food. The garden and kitchen are also available for the community to enjoy healthy cooking classes and garden education.
The Center for a healthy lifestyle teaches children to make healthier lifestyle choices by educating them on how to grow their own food, prepare it and have an open mind when trying new fruits and vegetables. In addition to the children learning valuable tools, cooking and gardening allows them to have a sense of accomplishment while building self-esteem, teamwork and leadership skills.
Their goal is to be a resource not just for our club kids but for the community surrounding our clubs.
The Center for a healthy lifestyle wants to grow their program to offer year-round programming for children, teens and adults. By doing so, their program will be able to sustain itself financially and allow them to continue their work with children from lower income parts of our community.
In order to grow their program, by April 1, 2024, they need funds to purchase garden, cooking and kitchen supplies. The Solana Beach Eco Rotary Club's Members will help in the garden and will communicate about the program.
