Project Description

Country: Various

Location: Various

Total Budget: $2,000

Area of Focus: Disease prevention and treatment

Activity Type: Health: General

Summary: provide medical assistance in remote areas and vulnerable elderly and orphaned children.

1. medical supplies, Quetzaltenango, Guatemala: $500

medical supplies are often needed due to scarcity of resources. The beneficiaries will be the rural Palajunoj Valley in Quetzaltenango, Guatemala through the local non-profit organization Primeros Pasos ("First Steps") in both its primary care clinic and mobile clinics that travel to the most isolated communities. The region experiences disparities in health outcomes and healthcare access, including high rates of child malnutrition and chronic poverty. Primeros Pasos serves as the only source of reliable health care services for these communities.

Primeros Pasos and its clinical staff has been delivering a variety of primary medical care, women's health, dental, and nutritional services to approximately 500 Maya-indigenous child and adult patients. The grant funds would cover the costs of medical/dental supplies.

2. o2 concentrators, Tagum, Davao, Philippines $500

an oxygen concentrator helps with an elderly's respiratory ailment.

The home is operated by a private charity and relies mostly on donations from families and some from the local government. There are several patients in the facility with respiratory problems that require continuous oxygen supply. Oxygen is supplied in tanks by a local supplier which cost the facility dearly. A continuous supply of oxygen from the oxygen producing machine would make sure oxygen is available anytime for use. The money used to pay for oxygen can then be redirected to other facility needs and expenses. RC Sweetwater San Diego partners with RC Golden Laces of Tagum City, Davao, Philippines to fulfill this project.

3. Hospicio de San Jose Philippines. 3 manual wheelchairs 600

Hospicio is a social welfare charity organization serving the abandoned elderly and orphaned children. This request is for the elderlies. Provide wheelchairs for the those who are aging rapidly.

4. Hospicio de San Jose Philippines. daily needs assistance 400

Hospicio is a social welfare charity organization serving the abandoned elderly and orphaned children. This request is for the orphaned children.
