Recognizing the great need within our community for access to trauma-informed therapy and mental healthcare, in 2021 Cumberland Youth & Family Services began to expand counseling services beyond only Cumberland Youth & Family Services residents to serve vulnerable, low-income/uninsured community members in the Denton County area. To be eligible for Community Counseling services, clients must be Denton residents, uninsured, and low-income households as determined by https://www.huduser.gov/
Cumberland has already outgrown their current space and are moving to a separate building dedicated to the Counseling Program on campus. This will enable them to have a safe, welcoming and comfortable space for their clients accessing their mental health services. The new space will have 4 counseling rooms, a group therapy room, a play therapy room, dedicated workspaces for their counselors, and a welcoming client waiting room.
Denton Rotary Club has previously supported Cumberland Youth & Family Services and our Rotarians love volunteering to assist this non-profit. For this project Rotarians would be engaged (4-5) in helping with the move-in and set up of this space as soon as funding is achieved.
