JCK was founded after a local 25-year-old, John C Kelly, took his own life after losing his battle with OCD. John's friend and mentee, who also struggles with OCD, vowed to help other young people struggling with mental health regain empowered, healthy lives. JCK developed, with input from mental health professionals, a three-part workshop focusing on awareness and prevention. Because the JCK administrative budget cannot support schools in "underserved" communities that lack the needed budget for mental health programs, we are looking to purchase video camera equipment, printers and laptops to help JCK provide underserved community schools access to their curriculum.
The Rivertowns Rotary members will be holding two fundraisers, 10/26/23 and 10/28, partnering with local restaurants to donate a portion of their daily receipts. Club members are securing restaurant partnerships, selling event tickets and promoting the event to local newspapers, TV stations and social media.
