Summary: clothing, toiletries, diapers, period products, socks and underwear for children and youth in Westchester County
Westchester County has a very diverse population and there are many in poverty that can't afford the essentials of clothing, toiletries, period products, diapers, socks and underwear for their children. As a result these children living in poverty often miss school causing them to be at a disadvantage with their education and school performance. The Rotary Club of Rye is partnering with a local non-profit located in Port Chester, NY to donate clothing, diapers, period products, socks and underwear. The Sharing Shelf was founded by a volunteer and relies on volunteers to accomplish its mission. Our help and donation of these items will have a direct impact on children in our community and help improve their lives by ensuring lack of appropriate clothing, hygiene and period products don't negatively impact their education. We are planning to raise 4,000 from our fundraising efforts to restock the shelves at The Sharing Shelf. The cost of this project will be $6,000 including the District Matching Grant ($4k from the Rotary Club of Rye Foundation and $2,000 from District 7230). With these funds, we will purchase clothing, socks, underwear, period products and toiletries.
