Larimer County, Colorado is an expensive place to live. With rents high and rising and the current inflation, life is unaffordable for many. Not least for single parents who are trying to raise a family on one income. Education is the path to a better life for parent and child. This project provides a scholarship for a single parent with the grit and determination to complete an Associates degree while working and raising a family.
This project will pay the tuition at a Larimer County community college campus for a deserving single parent or the living costs for one who is eligible for the Colorado College Opportunity Fund. If funded, this will increase the availability of the Ron Baker Scholarship Fund that our club has dedicated for this purpose for many years. Doing so will allow us to expand support from the current single recipient to another deserving single parent for a year. RAW will continue to seek further support to extend support for the second student for an additional year.
A club committee of education professionals will work closely with Project Self-Sufficiency to select the second student and continue to mentor the student throughout their degree program.
