Area of Focus: Basic education and literacy

Activity Type: Education: General

Summary: Rotarians teach Scout Merit Badges in their area of expertise to expose Scouts (Boys and Girls) to different professions and hobbies

This grant application is for a District Governors Grant.

Merit Badge University is an opportunity for Rotarians to teach about their professions and hobbies to Scouts that may have never been exposed to these ideas. In addition Merit Badges in Citizenship in the Community, Citizenship in the Nation, and Citizenship in the World expose the Scouts to important values and responsibilities of being a Citizen.

18 different Merit Badges are taught in a classroom setting over two Saturdays in January at Front Range Community College. Our club has been doing this project for 30 years. It needs additional support coming out of Covid as it was done virtually for two years. Last year was in person, but with much smaller numbers than had historically attended.
