Summary: A Monarch Native Plant Garden will be planted in front of St. John's Lutheran Church by their Youth Group and the Darien Rotary Club.

The Purpose of the Monarch Garden is two fold, to encourage and provide food for Pollinator Insects and the Monarch Butterfly and to educate Children and Adults about habitat needs. The Area is Triangular 35x35x16 feet adjacent to the Church and Cass Ave. The plants will be native to Illinois and will qualify as a Monarch Way Station. All volunteers including the St. John's youth group will be involved with preparing the area and soil, building borders, planting and educational programs. Signs wil explain the purpose of the garden and pamphlets will be printed. The Rotary Club of Darien members will also participate and publicize the event as Well as the Dupage MOnarch group and district 6450 Environmental Committee. The Darien Garden Club is organizing and purchasing the plants and collaborates with the indian Prairie Library for educational seminars. A grant was given by the Monarch Ventures Group for $1,000 to assist with this project.
