Activity Type:
Community Development: Construction/Renovation
Summary: Public access bridge repaired on historic community trail.
Currently the historic Coast Walk Bridge railing and stair case is deteriorating ultimately impacting access across a steep gully. This overdue repair is expected to help retain the historical and environmental integrity of this coastal asset. The bridge repair project estimated to be 65K to replace all railings and south side staircase mitigating a closure which would negatively impact pedestrian access of this popular coastal nature hike.
This project is expected to be done in the fall of 2024 pending city Right of Way Permit approval. Rotary funding is expected to contribute to the repair costs. La Jolla Sunrise members remain committed to this community project by matching District funds, raise dollars with the annual Walk for the Trail, in going clean up efforts and overall community endorsement of the trail restoration.
