Summary: 400 Activity packs to promote good relationships between foster kids and their birth parents.
This is a successful project the folks at Anchorage International Rotary Club have completed before. Beacon Hill, a non-profit in our community that works to place foster children into carding homes, is partnering with us to distribute over 400 activity packs to foster children across South Central Alaska. These packs include puzzles, reading material and other games. The packs are given to children specifically to promote a healthy contact between themselves and their birth parents during visitation periods. Many times, these 2 hour periods are typified by the estranged parent simply watching the kids play. The items we include encourage the parent and child to work together, which in turn strengthens the relationship.
