Project Description

Country: USA

Location: Fort Worth, Texas

Total Budget: $4,400

Area of Focus: Basic education and literacy

Activity Type: Education: Literacy

Summary: Supply IPads and Docking Port to Richard J. Wilson Elementary Fort Worth, Texas

Richard J. Wilson is in a disadvantaged socio economic area of Fort Worth, Texas. 99% of the Students are Hispanic. The Rotary Club of Fort Worth South currently gives awards out each 6 weeks to students that achieve the A-B Honor Roll. At the end of the year, one student from each grade is selected to receive a bicycle as reward for attaining A-B status. This program started two years ago by our Rotary Club has resulted in a 40% minimum growth in the A-B Honor Roll. As we continue this program, and also the dictionary program with this school, we have discovered a need for the students to be exposed to advanced computer technology ie. IPads to further their education in a modern society. Wilson Elementary and the Students parents are unable to fund such an IPad initiative, therefore the Rotary Club of Fort Worth South has decided to undertake a project to furnish up to 15 IPads and docking port to Wilson Elementary as means of educating the students to 21st Century technology.
