Anchorage South Rotary will partner with Hillside Rotary Club to purchase a vehicle for transporting foster kids to and from the Beacon Hill Center.
Beacon Hill recently opened their facility in Anchorage, Alaska, and serves as a resource center serving children, from infants to age 18, and their families. Approximately 50 people are served each week. Beacon Hill hosts supervised visits between parents and children. Their programs promote positive support, mentorship, and good behavior modeling. Beacon Hill also acts as a foster and adoption family recritment center. This grant will solve a critical transportation need to enable the Organization to carry out it's mission.
Beacon Hill is currently shopping for a vehicle, so a purchase within 60 days is likely. "Rotary" signage will be put on the vehicle to further Rotary's PR image.
While the actual purchase of the vehicle will involve few Rotarians, Beacon Hill has substantial need for volunteers. Accordingly, Rotarians will find opportunity to provide community service including transportation needs, mentoring, interaction with foster children, and behavior modeling for Beacon Hill clients.
