Project Description Country: USA Location: Costa Mesa, CA Total Budget: $4,000 Areas of Focus: Basic education and literacy, Community economic development Activity Type: Education: Literacy Summary: Provide backpacks filled with school supplies for children from low-income families in Costa Mesa, California, USA. This is a community service project for school children from low-income families in our community. These new backpacks loaded with school supplies will alleviate some of the peer pressure experienced by these students. Too many students in our community are falling behind in school and life before they even get started. This will help them with their self-esteem, creativity, and confidence. 15-20 members of our club will be involved in project planning, purchasing supplies, filling backpacks, and distribution of these backpacks. The materials we will be purchasing for this project include backpacks, crayons, pencils (regular and colored), scissors, erasers, glue sticks, plastic boxes for holding small items, composition books, rulers, etc. We plan to start upon approval and will complete this backpack project by October 2024.
