Project Description Country: USA Location: San Diego Total Budget: $5,148 Area of Focus: Basic education and literacy Activity Type: Education: Literacy Summary: Field trip and tour for 600 children to new Main Library plus 1 new book per child San Diego has a new, magnificent Main Library, yet hardly any inner city elementary school children have visited due to funding cuts for school field trips. Our club proposes to fund field trips so that every 3rd, 4th and 5th grader (approximately 600 total) at both McKinley and Logan Elementary Schools in San Diego can visit the library and take a tour. We will also provide a new book to each participant to commemorate the trip. At least one member of our club will accompany each trip. Addendum to Project Description (added after the project was signed) Monies remaining after the trips to the library will be used to purchase dictionaries for the schools.
