The Turk Center for Recuperative Care provides 106 care beds for unsheltered people discharged from the hospital. While continuing to heal at the Turk Center, Case Managers follow up with Primary Care providers and adhere to medication instructions. As the clients prepare to leave the facility, the Case Managers provide assistance with housig applications, employment and other goals toward self-sufficiency. Spending time outdoors, tending plants and sitting in a peacful surrounding, away from the hospital type setting, has proven very beneficial to the healing process. The space that will be refurbished is a short distance from the facility. When completed the healing garden, will provide respite from the rigors of a medical setting and give the client a light, outdoor activity. The Grant will provide seed money to build out the healing garden plan for plants, water features, shade, benches, tables and chairs.
