Project Description Country: USA Location: Fort Worth, TX Total Budget: $3,000 Area of Focus: Basic education and literacy Activity Type: Education: General Summary: School uniforms for children in an impoverished area Funds will be used to provide school uniforms for children in grades 1 through 8 who live in an impoverished area of Fort Worth, TX. These children have been identified through the Boys and Girls Clubs of Tarrant County. There are approximately 105 students in need of uniforms. The average annual income of these children's families is $12,000. Eighty percent of the children live in single-parent home or wish other relatives. The average cost of the uniforms, which includes shirt, pants and shoes, is $35 each. The grant funds will provide one uniform for 98 children. Club members will be invited to help purchase the uniforms as well as attend a Club luncheon at the Boys and Girls Club facility to distribute them.
