Project Description Country: USA Location: San Diego, California Total Budget: $1,720 Area of Focus: Basic education and literacy Activity Type: Education: Literacy Summary: Providing new books to students in grades 1 to 3 at Cesar Chavez Elementary, who are read to weekly by club members. This is an ongoing program that has been in existence since 1988. It is the flagship program of our school partnership activities. This year the program has served ten classrooms, reaching over 260 children from low and moderate income families. Annually the programs funds the cost of purchasing hardcover books, which are given to each student served. Teachers have told us that, in many instances the books, we give these students, are the only ones they own. Funds will be used to facilitate the book purchase.
