Casa De Amistad (House of Friendship) is a non-profit faith based organization dedicated to fostering education and character development of Hispanic children and their families living in the North County coastal region of San Diego County. It is affiliated with the Solana Beach Presbyterian Church.
MANA de North County San Diego is the newest chapter to join 25 chapters and affiliates across the country and is only one seven chapters in the State. It gained its own 501(3)in December 2013. The signature program of MANA is Hermanitas mentoring program for Latina teens. The goals of the program are to:
1. Promote educational achievement and personal enrichment.
2. Develop leadership qualities, skills and abilities.
3. Promote cultural identity, respect and pride and multicultural awareness.
4. Adopt healthy living strategies and approaches.
5. Encourage proactive community involvement.
In order to offer the program CASA needs to purchase three different books (The 6 Most Important Decisions, Respect and The Choice is Yours at a cost of $600 including tax. The books would need to be purchased in time for the fall semester which begins in September.
In addition to tutoring a child one one of Club's members has refurbished used computers and given them to some of the families whose children attend Casa.
