Project Description Country: USA Location: Iowa Park TX Total Budget: $3,000 Area of Focus: Basic education and literacy Activity Type: Education: Literacy Summary: Age appropriate children's books provided for the library in Iowa Park, TX, USA The Iowa Park Rotary Club will purchase a collection of children's books to expand the children's department with current editions. Books will be purchased by the library director, where the club will receive the discount provided to the librarian from the wholesaler. The discount could be up to a 20% discount depending on the book category, title and publisher. The librarian has agreed to assemble the collection based on the following age groups: Ages 1-3: Picture books, touch and feel, pop-up (ie: Good Night Moon) Ages 4-6: Read along, and beginning readers (ie: Dr. Suess, Curious George) Ages 7-10: Award Winners, (ie: Caldecott Medal Books) Ages 11+: Popular young readers, novels (ie: Harry Potter) All books will have stickers recognizing the Iowa Park Rotary Club as the organization that has donated the book. The library's children department will be sustained by the Iowa Park Rotary Club by adding additional titles being purchased from time to time by club members. Club members may also make scheduled visits to Tom Burnett Memorial Library to read to the kids.
