Project Description

Country: USA

Location: United States

Total Budget: $3,000

Area of Focus: Basic education and literacy

Activity Type: Education: Volunteer Services

Summary: Six Computers provided for the Clubhouse for Special Needs teens and young adults with mental and physical challenges.

The Clubhouse for Special Needs is a recreational center for teens and young adults (age 13 -39)who are not accepted in the community because of their mental & physical challenges. We provide a place for them to come and socialize, have recreation, and learn together. We have a computer room with six donated computers which are old and in various stages of working order plus two computers in the office which are old and inefficient in keeping our records and preparing our financials. The new computers would allow us to provide screened internet access and learning programs for our teens and young adults (members) and upgrade the office computers to provide better security, reliability, and efficiency. We have three HEB Rotary board members on the Clubhouse board and our club has been active in projects to improve the Clubhouse since it's inception eight years ago. We will have continuing involvement in the care and development of the Clubhouse and these members. Our time line will be prompt. Provided the funds are granted, we will have the computers operational by the beginning of fall session September first.
