Project Fore [Future Opportunities for Recreation and Enjoyment] has a need for a modified golf cart (MGC) that allows individuals with physical and cognitive disabilities to learn and participate in the game of golf. The MGC is equipped with a seat that allows the individual to position themselves to participate in the swing without the assistance of other individuals.
By providing Project Fore with an MGC they will be able to teach and involve individuals with physical impairments, such as: spinal cord injuries, brain injuries, amputation/loss of limb(s), paralysis from strokes/accidents, and vison impairments the game of golf. The ultimate benefit will be individuals from groups like the Wounded Warrior Military Program and individuals with autism or Down Syndrome will be able to use golf as a therapeutic means of exercise. Thus, in turn, allowing the individual to become more independant and improve social skills through the camaraderie and interaction on and off the golf course.
The funds will be used to purchase an used MGC which typically cost about $6000. The goal is to complete the project within 6-9 months from inception.
