Summary: Montgomery High School Robotics Project-aquisition of starter kit and tools

A team of 15 students will design, build and program a robot for competition. There are over 65 teams in the region. All teams need to raise $10,000.00 for their kits and registration. The Montgomery High Pharaohs will receive their kit on January 3rd, 2015 and have 6 weeks to complete. One half of the team will build the robot and the other half will learn skills to raise their money. the Rotary Club of Chula Vista Sunset will fund $2500 for their starter kit and tools. NASA and Qualcomm will also sponsor. Our timeline is January 3rd to March 6th.

During the six week of build our club will visit, mentor and feed the team who will be working long hours after school. They have strict guide lines, limited resources and time limits. We will also attend the tournament in March.

These title 1 students will qualify to receive scholarships awarded to 900 students for a total of $20,000,000 from notable universities that offer science and math degrees.

This team ranked 32 out of 68 last year after the regionals in San Diego. They have been working all summer to master their skills. The winner goes to Nationals in St. Louis sometime in April 2015.

On December 10th, 2014 we invited the Pharaoh's robotics team to Tavern and Bowl for a party and gave them their check for $2500.00.

January 3rd, 2015 they were issued their kits to start designing and building the robot. They were also shown a video on what their challenges will be at the regional tournament, May 2-5. During the six weeks of the build each member of our club visited them and took food twice a week. On Sat. 14th, they were invited to Mission Bay High to demonstrate and practice the robot along with several other area teams. Feb. 17th, the robot work was stopped and put away until the regionals. They are using their prototype to practice with. Next is the regionals at Valley View Casino Arena in San Diego.
