Summary: Thanksgiving meal/care packages for 100+ low income families in economic need in Laguna Beach, CA, USA
The Boys & Girls Club of Laguna Beach provides services to a significant number of economically challenged and low income families in the Laguna area, and will identify approximately 120 low income families in particular need at the holiday. More than 30 Rotary and 10 Interact Volunteers from the Laguna Beach Rotary Club will purchase food and assemble care packages which include a complete Thanksgiving meal and extras. The completed boxes, with perishable and non-perishable food, will be marked with Rotary decals and distributed by the Rotary and Interact Club members to the identified recipients immediately before the Thanksgiving holiday. The funds will be used exclusively to purchase the perishable and non-perishable food and boxes - there are no administrative or other costs. Smart & Final, as a supplier, will afford a discount of approximately 20% of the total food cost, increasing the number of families that can be served. The project will be performed within a two week period prior to Thanksgiving, November 28, 2014.
