Project Description

Country: USA

Location: California and Mexico

Total Budget: $16,400

Areas of Focus: Disease prevention and treatment, Maternal and child health

Activity Type: Health: General

Summary: Purchase a trailer to haul medical equipment to Health fairs in California, Oregon, Washington and Mexico

Newport Beach Sunrise Rotary has purchased two 20ft Trailers in the past two years (one dental and one vision)

We have partnered up with other rotary clubs in and out of our district to provide free dental and vision clinics to the underserved children and seniors in our community and internationally.

Our current dental trailer will provide over 1 million dollars worth of free service this and every year.

Our next project is to purchase a 27ft medical trailer to be used to transport dental, vision, hearing equipment and supplies for health fairs on the west coast.

The dental trailer/project that we started with Ayuda International with students and faculty from USC has been a tremendous success.

Other dental schools, Rotary Clubs and churches have requested that we expand our program. We will duplicate our current model with a larger trailer that will also be able to transport vision and hearing equipment.

This is our current schedule utilizing USC students and Ayuda equipment.

Each clinic will be well marketed to the community.

FB Page: Newport Beach Sunrise Rotary

We are constantly receiving awards for our community involvement

We place a NBSR banner on the trailer at every event and we also have the

Four-Way test placed on the inside back of the trailer so that volunteers read it every time they enter the trailer for equipment and supplies.

Sustainability

There is a great need for these services and equipment.

The trailer should last 10 years

Rotarian Involvement

Our club members help with check in, loading and un-loading the trailer, providing breakfast and lunch for the volunteers as well as passing out oral Hygiene kits, reading glasses, etc.

The clinic list above shows the list of locations we currently serve with the trailer we purchased 2 years ago as well as the clubs we partner with.
