Project Description Country: USA Location: Orange Total Budget: $10,000 Area of Focus: Economic and community development Activity Type: Community Development: Volunteer Services Summary: The Orange Rotary Club in partnership with Orange High School will beautify the entrance to Orange High School and provide seating for students What will be done: The Orange Rotary Club in partnership with Orange High School will beautify the entrance to Orange High School and provide seating for students. Currently, students wait out in front of the school entrance for pick up or for after school activities to begin. The students sit on the planter wall and grass because there are no benches available. All the previous cement benches are broken and have been removed. Our plan is to provide 6 benches with the Rotary logo on them and two trash receptacle. In addition, we will replace and upgrade the plants and flowers around the entrance to the school and repair or replace the digital marquee sign. The school will thank Rotary on the sign once it is repaired or replaced. Our goal is to instill pride in the students for their school and promote Rotary. This will be our hands on project for our club. We will utilize Rotarians and volunteers for the landscaping upgrade and assist with placement of the benches and trash receptacles. This will involve clean up of the area, laying out the plants, digging holes and adjusting the water supply as needed. This will be the second year we have requested a grant to improve Orange High School, which is the oldest school in the Orange Unified School District.
