Project Description Country: USA Location: Burkburnett, Texas Total Budget: $5,000 Area of Focus: Economic and community development Activity Type: Food/Agriculture: General Summary: Create an ongoing food growing garden for low income residents in and around Burkburnett Texas We have identified a need for nutritious vegetables for our seniors and community residents. We have used a survey in conjunction with Burkburnett Grace Ministries and the Times Record News of Wichita Falls to create and teach long term gardening skills which in turn provide fresh vegetables and fruits for the community. This will be a long term commitment for our Rotary club as well as providing recognition for our upcoming Rotary Day. The project funds will be matched and we are providing a water well, lumber for garden beds, fencing, and gardening tools. The land has already been secured in lower income neighborhood which is a very centralized location for all the residents. Rotary members will be involved in the construction, planning and ongoing physical assistance with this project.
