Herat' Afghanistan. Institute for Leadership Development (ILD)
This project overlaps 3 of the Rotary areas of focus; Promoting Peace, Supporting Education and Growing Local Economies.
The ILD was developed to train the leadership capacity of the current and future generations of Afghans. In every class of 35-40 students we will be training government officials, teachers, principals, business leaders, lawyers and other professional men and women. The Servant Leadership model that has been trained over the past 8 years has produced hundreds of graduates that have a new paradigm of leading and serving in their communities. Thirty of those graduates have started the process of chartering a new Rotary Club in Herat'. Eight other graduates have been awarded Fulbright Scholarships to continue their education in top universities in America.
We would like to request a District Matching Grant for $2,500 to assist in continuing the relationship with the ILD by sending a two person team from the Keller Rotary Club. On this trip we will participate in training at the ILD in Herat' and Kabul. Teaching leadership, personality styles, and organizational culture building. The team will also coach and assist the Herat' Rotary club in getting organized and focused on being the leaders and servants for their community. The establishment of the Rotary club will also give us more opportunities to partner and expand the impact of this incredibly effective leadership institute.
Travel costs: $3,500 x 2 Rotarians = $7,000
Leadership Library Computer and Video conference equipment: $3,000
The matching funds have already been raised. Part of these funds are donated by the Keller Rotary Foundation, the rest comes from our partner organization Global Fusion. Global Fusion is a non profit.
The Check will be written to Global Fusion, a fully registered 501.c.3 organization. The address is Global Fusion, 6331 Boulevard 26, Suite #250, North Richland Hills, TX, 76118.
The benefit of the trip and equipment upgrades will be many. First we will deliver first class leadership and capacity building training to the ILD classes in two cities. Second, it will allow a continuous relationship and mentoring for the emerging Herat' Rotary club. Lastly it will give Rotary International, and the Keller Rotary clubs the ability to integrate project work with our newly trained Service Above Self leaders in Afghanistan.
