Project Description Country: USA Location: Point Loma Total Budget: $2,000 Area of Focus: Basic education and literacy Activity Type: Education: Volunteer Services Summary: Literacy project at Dewey Elementary in Point Loma A Reading project designed to promote creativity in first graders and encourage community relations. NBSD Rotary Club will provide reading books to all first grade students at Dewey Elementary. During the 2014-2015 school year, club members will distribute and read to students in the classroom. The timeline is February- April of 2015. In addition we will be video recording students being read to by Rotary volunteers. The videoing will be done by a club member. There will be no cost for the video recording. The recordings will be sent to the Ombudsman onboard ship for military parents to view.
