Provide books for a year to low income families with children under 5 in Anchorage, Eagle River and Girdwood, AK.
The project supports Rotary Foundation's Future Vision Plan, Basic Education and Literacy. It has been operational in Anchorage since 2009. It is an established program that works. 9,000 children in Anchorage are currently enrolled and the strategic plan include growing that number with an emphasis on low-income families.
This project will be an ongoing club supported project. with the hopes of continuing our commitment for the life of the program.
There is also the opportunity for members to volunteer at a local level which includes free events in the area that encourage reading. Undeliverable books would be picked up from the post office and delivered to shelters.
